In this edition of “Who’s that Hawk?”, we celebrate classical pianist Melody Fader ’91. Melody attended Renbrook for seventh and eighth grade and Miss Porter’s School for high school. She completed her undergraduate studies at Eastman School of Music and earned her Master of Music from The Juilliard School. Reflecting on Renbrook and its impact on her life, Melody shares this, “From the moment I visited Renbrook when I was a sixth grader, I was in awe and wanted to be a part of this magical school. Amy Williams (Lunding) ’91 was my tour guide and welcomed me as if we were already best friends, Gretchen Hathaway and her students teased meaning from the Narcissus myth, a teacher tossed a dog biscuit into his mouth during morning meeting, and kids dressed in jackets and ties played hockey on their hands and knees with chalk and erasers before homeroom. I wanted to be part of this community! I entered as a seventh grader, and Amy became my best buddy. I enjoyed English class with Mrs. Hathaway and Project Adventure and loved learning Latin with Mr. Schact! When I played a Chopin piano solo in the Renbrook Revu, the applause and cheers let me know that I was welcome and appreciated. These are just a few of my many memories. I am forever grateful for this acceptance and nurturing which came at such a vulnerable age—thank you, Renbrook!” Thank you, Melody! We are grateful you’re a member of this community!

Melody lives in New York City and will be in Connecticut playing a free concert at Emanuel Lutheran Church at 60 Church St, Manchester, on Saturday, April 6, at 3 p.m. Connect with Melody online and find future concert dates at melodyfader.com. @melodylila #renbrookalumni #wearerenbrook
