7th Grade Learned Some New Tricks
7th graders got a visit from Ben Garson, master trainer from Dogology and his dog Judah, a 100-pound German Shepard to discuss training techniques. This expands on the lesson about alpha dog vs. submissive dog and how to teach manners to dogs as part of their 7th grade dog unit in science. It’s always a fun and heart-warming way to bring learning to life at Renbrook!

As part of the 7th grade Life Science class, students got up close with three birds of prey. Along with the Renbrook School mascot, the red-tailed hawk, they also got an intro to an American Kestral and Saw Whet Owl.

Students in seventh grade world history just finished their unit on Japan. To demonstrate their understanding of Japanese life and culture, they had several options they could create to show the significance of Japanese culture. These are some of the final products!

Sixth grade students wrapped up their study of Ancient Egypt and created Dioramas displaying some of their favorite areas of study during the unit. Some of the areas displayed included the Great Pyramids of Giza, Life Along the Nile River, Temples at Karnak and Tombs and Burial practices.

In today’s rapidly changing world, technology has changed the way we consume information. While the fundamental mission of school libraries, to empower students to be critical thinkers and lifelong learners and readers, remains largely the same, school libraries are quickly evolving to adapt to these changes. As connected learning hubs, where collaboration and hands-on learning are encouraged, students learn to access, evaluate, utilize, and ultimately become creators of information.
Home on the Range
Third graders as part of their Westward Movement Unit took on the pioneer life for Prairie Day. Students presented scrapbooks they created, sang songs they learned and participated in a hoedown with dances they learned in P.E.

5th Grade Gets a Visit from Plimoth Plantation Museum
5th grade welcomed the living history museum Plimoth Plantation from Plymouth, MA as part of their history program. Museum teachers talked about clothing, family roles, school, games, food, and farming. They came to their annual visit dressed in traditional clothing to discuss the Mayflower Compact. As part of the history program, students will create a colonial village and learn colonial skills, trades, professions, music, and dance, portraying characters from colonial times.
