The Honorable William Tong ’88
The Honorable William Tong ’88 is the 25th Attorney General and first Asian American elected statewide in Connecticut. He attended Renbrook from third through ninth grade and then went on to graduate from Phillips Academy Andover, Brown University, and the University of Chicago Law School. Mr. Tong practiced law for 18 years as a litigator in state and federal courts. As Attorney General, his top priority is to protect Connecticut families, residents, and consumers, and to stand up to powerful forces that threaten us. Before being elected Attorney General, Mr. Tong served for 12 years in the Connecticut General Assembly. He helped lead passage of landmark legislation, including the Second Chance Act, Domestic Violence Restraining Order Act, Lost and Stolen Firearms Act, the Act Protecting Homeowner Rights, and the Act Protecting Schoolchildren. He and his wife, Elizabeth, live in Stamford with their three children and too many pets.
“I grew up working in my immigrant family’s Chinese restaurant, and my parents’ decision to send me and my sisters to Renbrook was transformative. Renbrook opened so many doors and opportunities that made it possible for me to now serve as our state’s Attorney General.”
