With over 20 years of experience, Karina has evolved from a caregiver to an independent art teacher. She holds a BA in Art from Central Connecticut State University and has worked in various artistic roles, including head teacher at a private art studio in West Hartford, contributor to the CCSU Art Gallery and New Britain Museum of American Art, and managing director of an independent art gallery in Torrington.
Karina’s teaching blends art techniques with a deep understanding of child development, fostering an environment that nurtures creativity and critical thinking. She joined Renbrook as a partner teacher in the fall of 2024. Originally from El Salvador, Karina is fluent in English and Spanish and proficient in Portuguese, which allows her to connect with a diverse community. Outside the classroom or her studio, she enjoys outdoor activities with her husband, John, and daughter, Lucia.
