Kristen Stepanishen
Grade 4 Teacher
Teacher's College, Columbia University - MA, University of Rhode Island - BA
Kristen grew up in Camp Hill, PA and attended the University of Rhode Island earning a BA in elementary education and women’s studies. She went on to earn a MA in education at Columbia University’s Teachers College. Kristen was inspired to become a teacher because she herself had wonderful relationships with all of her own teachers and wanted the opportunity to impact the lives of children in the same way. She cherishes the moments when her students express their love of learning and believes strongly in creating bonds and relationships with all of her students and their families.
Kristen began her teaching career in 2008 and has taught preschool, kindergarten, and second through fifth grade. She loves teaching fourth grade because it is the capstone year of their Renbrook Lower School experience. Kristen embraces the “tween” developmental stage and enjoys working with children who look at the world with wonder while also becoming more and more aware of the complexity of life.
Outside of school, Kristen enjoys spending time with her husband, Kent, and two daughters, Violet and Sylvia, and Yorkie, Tucker. They travel often to Westerly, Rhode Island and Kristen is a voracious reader. She also enjoys running and biking.
