Beginning School STEM

Renbrook School (West Hartford, CT) an independent day school for children age 3 to Grade 8, is seeking an inspiring and creative part time STEM teacher to develop and teach STEM curricula to kindergarten students in the Beginning School. In partnership with homeroom teachers, the STEM teacher will help nurture an appreciation for and enjoyment of science, technology, engineering, and math through engaging, developmentally appropriate, inquiry-based instruction.  

Reports to: Beginning School Director

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree and three years teaching experience
  • Experience teaching early childhood or early elementary STEM, Maker Space, or related field

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop STEM curricula and teach lessons in science, technology, engineering, and math that are inquiry focused and offer an exciting and engaging introduction to STEM for kindergarten students
  • Teach in alignment and support of the mission and values of Renbrook School.
  • Design lessons that are active and interactive; and teach units and educational experiences in collaboration with other grade-level teachers, subject specialist teachers, and learning specialists.
  • Use effective and positive teacher language to promote academic and social growth, as well as rapport with every student.
  • Use differentiation to meet the needs of various levels of learners.
  • Provide families with curricular updates through regular posts on Seesaw. E-mail families on an as needed basis to provide feedback about behavior and academic needs.
  • Write report card comments two times per year.
  • Communicate with colleagues and families (in both written and verbal form) in a highly professional and collaborative manner at all times.

The review of candidates will begin immediately with an expected start date in August 2025.
