Job Description
Early Childhood Partner Teacher
Renbrook School (West Hartford, CT), an independent day school for children age 3 to Grade 8, seeks a passionate and dynamic Partner Teacher to join our play-based program, where learning comes to life through inquiry, exploration, and imagination. As an integral part of the team, the Partner Teacher will contribute to a nurturing, dynamic, and stimulating environment that encourages curiosity, collaboration, and growth in young learners.
Renbrook’s approach to early childhood education is based upon our belief that play is the gateway to learning for our youngest children – the way they gain knowledge about themselves, others, and their world. Our program is designed to nurture the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development, as well as develop the early literacy and math skills of our youngest students through creative, integrated theme-based experiences. We seek a teacher who will bring creativity, joy, and positive energy to the world of early childhood learning.
Responsibilities:
- Support the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of our youngest students.
- Collaborate with the Lead Teacher to design and implement a classroom environment that honors play as the way our youngest children learn about themselves, others, and their world.
- Foster strong relationships with students, families, and the wider Renbrook Community.
- Join grade level team meetings to collaborate with grade level teachers and specialists around a theme-based curriculum.
- Work with Lead Teacher to incorporate tinkering, experimenting, and making with a variety of materials to develop a foundational understanding of STEAM concepts.
- Embrace the benefits and opportunities of outdoor learning on Renbrook’s campus.
- Approach students from an asset-based perspective and collect data through observation and listening about students’ interests and abilities.
- Collect anecdotes to assist the lead teacher in preparing for conferences and in the writing of progress reports; contribute to weekly classroom news postings.
- Participate in recess and lunch supervision with the grade-level team.
- Enhance the school’s commitment to diversity and belonging through an early childhood lens to ensure students see themselves reflected in the classroom environment and curriculum.
- Engage in professional development opportunities to support continued growth in teaching and learning.
Qualifications:
- BA and 2-3 years of teaching experience preferred
- Experience with play-based learning is encouraged
- Excellent relationship-building skills and rapport with children
The review of candidates will begin immediately with an expected start date in August 2025.
A generous salary and benefits package (including health, dental, and retirement, professional development, free lunch, and tuition remission) and a supportive professional environment is a strong feature of Renbrook’s learning community.
Interested applicants should submit a cover letter, resume, philosophy of early childhood education, and three letters of reference included together in one PDF document to employment@renbrook.org with “Partner Teacher” in the subject line. All applications must be provided via e-mail.
