Job Description
Science Teacher
Renbrook School (West Hartford, CT), an independent day school for children age three (3) to Grade 8, is seeking an experienced teacher to fill a full-time science teaching position in our Upper School (Grades 5-8).
The successful candidate will have many of the following:
- A master’s degree (preferred) or bachelor’s degree in a science-related field.
- Experience teaching children, particularly in an independent, day, college preparatory, or like school setting.
- An enthusiasm for teaching middle school science (earth science, life science, and/or chemistry) and experience collaborating with colleagues on curricular revisions.
- Strong references that convey strong teaching skills, connection with students, and mastery of your scientific field.
- Knowledge of current learning principles and techniques.
- Additional science-related skills and work experience that can enrich an independent school community. For example: academic research (e.g. work in a lab or international field work), advising a computer club, coaching a robotics team, leading science-related excursions, designing STEAM initiatives, etc.
- Skills, talents, and flexibility for contributing to the Renbrook community in additional capacities. For example: coaching sports, advising 7+ students in a grade level, offering extracurricular activities, etc.
- Proven history of building positive relationships among students, parents, and faculty.
- An appreciation for the power of diversity in the social and academic development of children and the ability to build a strong sense of belonging.
The review of candidates will begin immediately with an expected start date in August 2025.
